LAURINBURG — Scotland High School senior Azar Bostic was selected to become a member of The National Society of High School Scholars.

Bostic, who is involved in the BETA Club and the National Honor Society at SHS, was selected for the honor based on his “outstanding leadership, scholarship, and community commitment,” according to the organization.

“On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Azar has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said Claes Nobel, NSHSS founder and chair, and senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes.

The 17-year-old is the son of Theresse Bynum and plans to study psychology to pursue a career furthering the care of seniors. He would like to attend North Carolina A&T or UNC Chapel Hill.
