Shooting

LAURINBURG — A Glenn Street resident was shot in the parking lot of Tara Village on Ashley Drive around 10 p.m. on Monday, according to police.

Witnesses told authorities that the victim, 21-year-old Devonte Monroe, approached a vehicle and spoke to the occupants before shots were fired. Monroe was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Arrests

LAURINBURG —Daquan Braddy, 20, of 1336 Sunset Drive, was arrested on Saturday after attempting to enter Mt. Olive Seventh Day Adventist Church on South Caledonia Road and St. James Holiness Church on Alexander Avenue, according to police. Braddy was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of breaking and entering, and going armed to the terror of the public and placed under a $40,000 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — Larry Bellamy, 18, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, was arrested on Saturday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in the city limits, according to police. Bellamy was released under a written promise to appear in court.

Home invasion

LAURINBURG — A resident of Ashley Drive reported that she opened the door for two unknown subjects around noon on Saturday and that they then entered the home and stole prescription medications before leaving, according to police.

Break-ins

LAURINBURG — A resident of Frederick Avenue reported that someone broke into a vehicle outside the residence on Sunday, according to police. A DVD player, tools, cologne, and DVDs were reported stolen.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Highland Drive reported a breaking and entering to a storage building on Saturday, according to police. A riding lawnmower valued at $800 was reported stolen.

LAURINBURG — From the Word Ministries on North Main Street reported a breaking and entering and larceny on Saturday, according to police. Stereo equipment valued at $3,800 was reported stolen.
