LAURINBURG –Police responded to a call for arson at Tara Village apartments on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The resident reported to police that her nine-year-old said her the bedroom was on fire. Police are investigating the incident as a suspicious fire.

LAURINBURG –Police responded to a call for arson at a residence on North Main Street on Wednesday at 4 a.m. The residents reported to police that someone threw “a Molotov-cocktail” through a bedroom window. The residents were able to put out the fire leaving only $5 damage to a blanket. Police are investigating and have a person of interest.

Drugs

LAURINBURG – Police said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the Tobacco and Gifts shop on US 401 on Tuesday. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Azzan, 19, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Azzan lists his address as the store. He received a $5,000 secured bond, according to police.

Fraud

LAURINBURG – A resident of Ridgewood Circle reported to the sheriff’s office on Tuesday that she had been communicating with someone on Craigslist about purchasing a car. The victim sent money to the seller and never received the car.

Arrests

LAURINBURG – Whitney Nicole Bethea, 23, of Link Drive in Lumberton was arrested on one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and one count of misdemeanor resist delay and obstruct. Bethea, was given a $1,500 secured bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
