Missing child found

LAURINBURG — Authorities searched for about an hour on Monday for a 6-year-old Laurinburg girl who wondered off while playing in the yard of a home on the 1000 block of Turnpike Road, according to police. Ten officers began a search at 2:30 p.m. that ended at the home of a relative on Duncan Street. According to Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms, the girl was walking towards the relative’s home when two unknown women picked her up and gave her a ride.


LAURINBURG — A resident of the 200 block of Gill Street reported that he was walking down North Main Street at 10 p.m. on Sunday when a burgundy vehicle pulled up beside him and a man got out and shot him in the hand, according to police. The shooting is under investigation.

LAURINBURG — Two men reported that they were shot at as they prepared to merge onto Midland Way on Saturday, according to police. Gunshots caused damage to the passenger door of a 205 Dodge Dakota.


LAURINBURG — Two air-conditioning units were reported stolen from a home on the 600 block of Ann Street on Tuesday, according to police.

LAURINBURG — A resident of the 1200 block of Washington Street reported that someone took a television from her home on Thursday, according to police. The television was valued at $500.


LAURINBURG — Three rocking chairs were taken from the porches of homes on Turnpike Road on Saturday afternoon, according to police. At 4:50 p.m., two chairs were reported stolen from a home on the 11000 block; at 5 p.m., another was reported stolen from a home on the same block. Each chair was valued at $100.
