LAURINBURG — RJ Nicholson, a senior at Scotland High School, was recently selected by the SCTC Foundation as the recipient of the SCTC Foundation Community Award.

Nicholson was selected out of 26 candidates and was a unanimous choice.

“I am so proud to make RJ as our 2021-2022 recipient,” said CEO Johnathan T. Galbreath, “RJ has shown me and my team outstanding leadership in the communities as well as in the classroom. I believe this award was well deserved. RJ has volunteered in our program a couple of times and always showed hard work clocking in and out. Good job, RJ.”

The SCTC Foundation Community Award was started back in 2019 to give recognition to student-athletes and community members who have shown great amounts of leadership, mentorship and life skills to help others excellence in different areas of life.

“RJ has showed surrounding communities about leadership on the football field and off,” Galbreath said. “He has lean helping hands to different people in the communities when it comes to needing help. He has been a big role model to mamy teams in the area (and) there is a picture showing RJ giving a word of encouragement to a group of football players.”

RJ is the of Latisha Dale. One of his role models is his Uncle Clayton Dale.
