PEMBROKE — The Lumber River Council of Governments, in conjunction with its members Bladen, Hoke, Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland counties, and the municipalities therein, have been working on a broadband (internet access) demand study aimed at improving broadband availability within the five-county region.

The LRCOG announced Tuesday that the results of that study for ScotlandCounty will be presented to elected officials in Scotland County and the general public on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Scotland County Emergency Operations Center located at 1403 West Boulevard, Laurinburg.

The project’s technical consultant, Jeff Brooks, with ECC Technologies, LLC, will present the results.

David Richardson, executive director of the LRCOG, stated that, “this session will provide an excellent opportunity for elected officials and the general public to learn about the status of broadband within the region and opportunities to improve that access.”

The study is being funded by a grant from the US Economic Development Administration.
