Villalobos receives scholarship from Self-Help Credit Union

DURHAM — A Laurinburg student has won a scholarship for demonstrating a commitment to building a stronger community.

Natasha Villalobos is one of 30 students who received a $1,000 scholarship from Self-Help Credit Union, a financial organization that works nationwide to create and protect home ownership and economic opportunity for all.

Established in 2015, the awards recognize proven leaders who have shown a commitment to community service and who strive to make a positive impact on the future. Self-Help branch offices in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia selected winning entries. Scholarships were awarded to students attending or planning to attend a vocational school or college.

Villalobos received a scholarship from the Self-Help Credit Union branch, located at 701 S. Main St. in Laurinburg.

Natasha is attending Southeastern Community College and pursuing a degree in the nursing program with the goal of becoming an ER or NICU nurse. She volunteered for the mass COVID 19 Vaccination Clinic held by Southeastern Community College and the local health department.
