LAURINBURG — Scotland County Schools Superintendent Takeda LeGrand is still looking for input from the community.

“Last week we had a strategic plan community forum at Scotland High School,” LeGrand said. “We also had a little bit of weather that day, as well, and some low attendance.”

LeGrand added the forum was in-person only, so she’s planning another one that will also allow those who wish to remain at home to join virtually.

“We’re going to have a make-up day on May 17 (Monday) and we’re going to move it to the media center, which is a little more intimate in Scotland High School,” LeGrand said. “But it will also be Zoomed live at the same time so those who want to give feedback and participate online, they’ll have that option. For those who want to come into the building, we’ll have that option available. So I’m excited about the repeat re-do.”

The forums came after LeGrand’s 100-day report and are adding the input on what stakeholders want goals they have for Scotland County Schools to help complete for the 2021-26 strategic plan.

“I think it’s very important for our parents, community members, businesses and partners to give us feedback on the direction of the district so we can make sure that our final plan will reflect the comprehensive input from our stakeholders,” LeGrand said.

The forum will be open to anyone from the public and will follow CDC guidelines. Temperature checks will be done on-site and face masks will be required.
