Early voting nears 4,000 after 5 days

LAURINBURG — The turnout over the first five days of One-Stop Early Voting in Scotland County rose to nearly 4,000 when 989 registered voters cast their ballot on Monday.

Dell Parker, executive director of the Scotland County Board of Elections, reported that the overall total number of early voters stood at 3,798 after the fifth day.

Of those who have cast a ballot, a total of 2,298 have been Democrats; another 614 have been Republican; 882 have been unaffiliated; and three have been Libertarian.

Also, a total of 1,812 early voters have been black; another 1,628 have been white; 168 have been Native American — 2,132 have been female and 1,532 have been male.

— Sunday — 295

— Monday: 989

Early voting is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., as well as Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and closed Sunday. During the third and final week, the hours of Monday through Friday will remain the same and Saturday will be 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Early voting is being held at 231 E. Cronly St. in the Annex conference room.
