Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Stephan R. Futrell presides over an informal meeting of public officials and other courthouse stakeholders on Wednesday morning in the Main Courtroom of the Scotland County Courthouse. The primary purpose of the meeting was to plan strategy and discuss logistics of safely re-opening the courts in compliance with public health directives. Among those present were: Superior Court Judge Dawn Layton and Chief District Court Judge Amanda Wilson from Rockingham; District Court Judge Christopher Rhue from Wagram; Sheriff Ralph Kersey, Chief Deputy Eddie Smith, Head Bailiff Capt. Jonathan Smith, and other members of the sheriff’s staff; County Manager Kevin Patterson and County Dept. Head over Buildings Mike McGirt; attorneys from the local bar; staff members of the District Attorney’s Office; and, Clerk of Court Philip McRae and Assistant Clerk Paulette Stewart.
