LAURINBURG — The rain didn’t stop the crowd on Saturday for the annual Jackson’s Diesel Service Christmas Parade.

Almost 200 participants walked, danced, marched, or rode down the three-mile route, with only a few entries originally signed up not being able to participate.

“I thought the crowd was awesome and it was incredible to see so many kids out there smiling and enjoying themselves,” said Executive Director for the Laurinburg-Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce Chris English. “The improvements we made to the line-up including the shuttle service made a huge impact on line-up efficiency and safety. We’ve received some wonderful feedback on the pared and the entries and spectators seemed to be having a great time.”

The winner of the homemade float contest was Scotland Family Counseling while Alpha Bail Bonds placed second. English added the judges said all the homemade floats were outstanding and the tallies were extremely close.

“We can’t express our gratitude for Jackson’s Diesel Service and all of our sponsors,” English said. “As well as our volunteers and first responders that help us out during the event. But most of all we want to thank the community for coming out and supporting the parade.”
