RAEFORD — A Scotland County woman has been arrested and charged with the severe beating of a Laurinburg woman in Hoke County last weekend.
According to information from the Hoke County Sheriff’s Office, Aisha Bryant of Laurel Hill was arrested on Thursday in Scotland County. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
The attack took place several days earlier, when Alicia Jones, 25, was beaten unconscious along a dirt road in Raeford. She reportedly found her way back into Scotland County and went for help.
“They took my phone. My house key. My car keys. My bank cards. They took my shoes. Then my ring. They used my bank card,” Jones told investigators.
“They beat me they dragged me. They snatched my hair out from the root. They left me for dead. I’m feeling a lot of pain. My eyes are still shut. My right is opening up halfway, but my left is still shut closed. I have bruises all on my face. I have scratch marks — like road marks — where you can tell I’ve been dragged — all over my face. My lips are swollen. My nose is swollen. My hair is gone,” she added.
Jones, who spent a few days in the hospital recovering from her wounds, also told authorities she knew the person who attacked her.
