Break-in

LAURINBURG — A resident of McNair Alley reported to the police department on Thursday that someone had broken into her residence and stolen a fan and iPhone valued at $550. There was also $325 in damage to two mirrors. The victim informed police later that friends told her explicit videos and photos were posted on her Snapchat, likely from whomever stole the phone. The incident is being investigated and the victim told police it could have been an ex-roommate.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Tara Drive reported to the police department on Thursday that her car was broken into and a Top Gun backpack and assorted food and snacks totaling $95 were taken. There was previous damage to a window of the vehicle that was taped up, police believe whoever stole the items entered the car that from the damaged window.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Pea Bridge Road reported to the sheriff’s office on Friday that unknown persons entered the residence and took various items. The items taken include a television, PlayStation, Bluetooth Speaker, Timberland boots, Jordans and Adidas shoes totaling $1,285.

Larceny

LAURINBURG — A resident of State Line Road reported to the sheriff’s office on Thursday that unknown persons took several items from the property. The items include an all-terrain vehicle, two welder machines and two grinders totaling $3,000.

DWI

LAURINBURG — Police responded to a car accident at the intersection of Main and Railroad streets on Thursday. Upon investigation it was determined that 21-year-old Cyla Clark of Johns Mill Road, Maxton, had caused the accident by not stopping at the red light. When talking to Clark officers detected the smell of alcohol and she was arrested for driving while impaired. She refused a breath test and was transported to the magistrate’s office where she was booked for a DWI. She was also given a citation for failure to carry a drivers license and failure to stop at a red light. She was given a $1,000 bond.

Arrests

LAURINBURG — John Clark, 28, of East Vance was arrested Thursday for an outstanding warrant for failure to return rental property. He was given a $2,000 bond.

LAURINBURG — Leslie Chavis Woods, 33, of Stevens Circle was arrested Thursday for forgery of instrument, attempted uttering, and misdemeanor larceny. She was given a $15,000 bond.
