Traffic stop leads to arrest of passenger

LAURINBURG — A traffic violation on Tuesday evening led to a passenger being arrested.

A Laurinburg Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Old Lumberton Road for an out-of-date registration. Upon making contact with the driver the officer was informed that there was a firearm in the car. Officers searched the car and located the firearm, which had been concealed in the car.

Grady Dial, 55, of Pea Bridge Road, who was the driver of the car, was issued a citation for carrying a concealed firearm and having an expired registration.

Matthias Hunt, 22, of Pea Bridge Road was a passenger in the car. He was arrested in reference to failure to appear warrants issued out of Robeson County and was given a $1,000 bond.
