LAURINBURG — As Thursday was turning into Friday, a stop at a closed local Laurinburg eatery resulted in the arrest of one teenager and have police searching for a second teenager.

At about midnight, a concerned resident put a call in to the Laurinburg Police Department to report a suspicious vehicle in the Jersey Mike’s parking lot on McColl Road. When officers arrived and made contact with the two teens in the vehicle, they were met with a strong smell of marijuana.

Before the officers could begin their investigation, one of the teens bolted and was not caught.

When the investigation was conducted, 15 grams of marijuana along with a .380 Taurus semi-automatic pistol were found inside the vehicle.

The driver of the car was Antonio Wees, 17, of McColl Road, who was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a handgun by a minor. He was book4ed into the Scotland County Detention Center on a $500 bond.

His passenger Michael Bennett, 17, of Andrews Drive, was not located and a warrant was placed for his arrest for simple possession of marijuana and resist, delay and obstruction
