LAURINBURG — A license plate number and a Facebook relationship lead police to a Maxton couple accused of stealing from a Laurinburg farm equipment store, police said.

Gary Andricci, 18, and Samira Alexis Ahmed, 19, both of NC 71, Maxton, were arrested after police say they stole tools from Tractor Supply.

Police were called to the store in Holly Square shopping center Wednesday at 8:54 p.m.

The couple entered the just before closing and placed a DeWalt leaf blower and DeWalt saw in a shopping cart, according to Assistant Police Chief Terry Chavis.

“Andricci distracted [an employee] and the female pushed the cart out of the store,” Chavis said. “[The employee] was able to copy the license plate number and the officer ran the tag and got the suspect’s information from the guy who owned the car.”

A warrant for larceny was sworn out for Andricci and investigators turned to the internet to identify the female.

“They were able to use his Facebook to ID her. She was Andricci’s girlfriend,” Chavis said.

A warrant was sworn out for Ahmed, and Robeson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to arrest the couple.

The pair were transported to the Scotland/Robeson County line and picked up by Laurinburg Police Department.

They were taken to the Scotland County Detention Center and each held under a $2,500 secured bond.
