LAURINBURG – A toddler was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital Saturday after being struck by a car.
The accident occurred at In and Out Detailing and Car Wash on North Main Saturday afternoon, police said.
“It was just an accident,” said Capt. Chris Young.
Police have not disclosed the identity of the child’s family or the driver.
The mother of the 24-month-old child drove up to the car wash and was unloading the child from van when the child “took off from her and ran into the parking lot,” according Young.
At the same time, a car was backing out of the parking lot and hit the child.
No charges were filed against the mother or the driver of the car, according to Young.
There was no word on Monday as to the child’s condition.
