Tip leads to motel drug raid

LAURINBURG — A tip led Laurinburg police to make a drug bust at a city motel this week, officials said.

Lloyd Kinston Jr. of Maxton was arrested on drug trafficking charges at Quality Inn on Jameson Inn Court Tuesday night.

“Our officers received information about drug activity in a room and made contact with the occupants,” said Capt. Chris Young.

Once inside the room the officers said they saw drug paraphernalia and a pistol. A further search turned up more drugs.

Kinston, 28, of Clark Road, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, trafficking cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to sell and deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $105,000 secured bond.

He was also arrested on an order for failure to appear on charges of DWI, reckless driving to endanger and hit and run.

Also arrested in the incident was Shelby Dawn Farris, 25, of Livingston Road, Gibson, was arrested on warrants for felony probation violations, misdemeanor larceny. Farris jialed undera $10,000 secured bond.
