LAURINBURG — Police have arrested a Laurinburg man on drug charges after they say he attempted to flee a traffic stop on foot.
Ziheem McLean, 22, of Hurley Drive, was arrested on possession charges and resisting an officer early Friday morning, according to Capt. Chris Young.
Patrol officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of North Main and Gill Streets at 12:15 a.m.
“As the vehicle came to a stop, the front passenger door opened and the passenger fled on foot,” Young said. “After a brief chase the passenger, McLean, was apprehended.”
Police said they searched McLean and located a .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, digital scales and 15 grams of marijuana.
McLean is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and resist delay and obstruct and given a $10,000 secured bond.
