LAUREL HILL – A Laurinburg resident reported to the sheriff’s office that she was physically assaulted and held against her will by two acquaintances.

The incident was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

The woman told deputies that she had gone to the Pee Dee River in Richmond County with two men, according to Lt. Detective Kelly Jacobs of the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman said she and the men became intoxicated. The woman told investigators she was attacked as the group rode home.

“When they were on Crawford Lake Road, the male in the backseat reached around the seat and said, ‘You going to give me some of that stuff,” Jacobs said. “When she said he started choking her from behind.

The woman told deputies that she was choked several more times before she was able to get away and run to a nearby home for help.

No arrests have been made and the case is under investigation, according to Jacobs.
