LAURINBURG – A woman who claimed that she was coerced to give damning evidence against her boyfriend in murder and drug case has been accused of breaking into a home.

According to Scotland County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Katelin Smith, 21, of Maxton, broke into a home on Tartan Road and took furniture and a 2,000 Honda Civic total value $10,000,

Smith was a witness in February at a probable cause hearing alleging that detectives at the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office coerced her into making false statements that her then live in boyfriend Antwan Lloyd was a drug dealer who abused her and caused the death of her unborn child.

The court filing also claimed that detectives did not have cause to search the home on couple’s Tartan Road. The home is the same one Smith is accused of breaking into.

Judge Regina Joe ruled that the detectives did have cause to search the home. The charges in the death of the child were dropped by the District Attorney’s office.

The report was filed by a relative of Lloyd.

Charges have not yet been filed against Smith in the break in.
