LAURINBURG – Authorities said an ongoing dispute between two men in the Hasty community resulted in a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Jamie Ray Johnson, 36, of Crestline Road was shot after being told by the homeowner to leave, according to Major Ruben Castellon chief detective of Scotland County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m.

Deputies had been called to the home concerning a dispute between Johnson and the homeowner last week.

“Johnson had been warned previously not to trespass,” said Castellon. “He came back and became aggressive and was shot.”

Castellon declined to disclose the nature of the dispute.

Castellon said no charges were filed against the homeowner because the incident was ruled as self-defense because the property owner had sworn warrants out against Johnson after the incident last week.

Johnson was transported to a hospital in Charlotte and is listed in stable condition.
