David “Dave” Lee Allen of Gibson passed away at the age of 75 on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. David Reed. Burial with military honors and Masonic Rites will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

David was born on Oct. 28, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Kerman Allen and Hazel Brooker Allen. He was a retired United States Army veteran who bravely served in the Vietnam War. For his service, he was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He then worked with L.O.F. / Pilkington Glass retiring after many years of dedicated service. He served as a member and Past Master of the Laurinburg Masonic Lodge #305. Dave will be cherished as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by great grandchild Logan and two brothers-in-law.

Dave is survived by his wife Betty S. Allen of their home in Gibson, sons Edward “Red” Allen and wife Teresa of Bennettsville, S.C., Melvin Allen and wife Tina of Laurinburg, Daniel Bean of Bennettsville, and David Bean and wife Debbi of Tulsa, Okla., his daughter Dana Forrester and husband Jeff of Kingsport, Tenn., sister Doris Sowers of Ohio, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
