Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Shaw Everett, Jr., 92, of Wilmington, formerly of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, Jan 12, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel in Laurinburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Everett was born on Feb. 12, 1920 in Laurinburg, a son of the late Lawrence Shaw Everett and Hattie Wall Bryant Everett. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Everett. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Kathaleen Cashwell Everett in 1981. They were longtime residents of Wilmington and Atlantic Beach, Fla.

He graduated from Laurinburg High School in 1933 and earned his degree from Duke University in June 1941. He was a World War II veteran who proudly served with the United States Army. He had a distinguished career as a stock broker, retiring after many years of service from the Allen C. Ewing & Company Investment Firm.

Mr. Everett is survived by his children Lawrence “Larry” S. Everett, III of Wilmington, George T. Everett and wife Carolyn of Raleigh, and Cheryl E. Lyons and husband Mike of Apollo Beach, Fla., his granddaughters Amy E. Champlin, Lauren T. Everett, Christi Logan, and Lara Logan, great-grandchildren Everett B. Chaplin, Vance P. Champlin, Griffin P. Champlin, Mandi Ricker, Stevi Ricker, Tori Ricker, Ashleigh Schniepp, and CJ Birkenmeyer, and great-great-grandson Beau Dunn. He is also survived by a sister, Betsy Everett Piver of Charlotte.

Memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 409 S. 5th Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401 or the charity of one’s choice.
