Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Stewartsville Baptist Church with burial following at Hillside Memorial Park. Rev. Woody Byrd will officiate the services.
Russell was born on July 10, 1962 in Columbia, S.C., a son of Joyce Duffie Hatchell and the late Clyde W. Hatchell. Before his illness, he was a produce manager for Food Lion Stores, Inc. with more than 16 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Rusty loved his family; his favorite memories were the birth of his children and all the times they have shared.
Rusty is survived by his wife Marilyn B. Hatchell of their home in Laurinburg, his children Eric W. Hatchell of Indiana, Jessica Hatchell Padgett and husband Brit of Lake Tillery, James “Jimmy” Jeter of Laurinburg, Heather A. Crawford and husband Bobby of Laurinburg, Heidi Jeter of Hamlet, and Tatum Alise Gallops of the home, his mother Mrs. Joyce Hatchell of Stokesdale, brothers Clyde Marvin “Marty” Hatchell and wife Melinda of Gastonia, Richard “Ricky” Alvin Hatchell and wife Tammy of Stokesdale, and William “Gary” Hatchell and wife Malinda of Laurinburg, his seven grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at Stewartsville Baptist Church, 10401 McColl Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
