Maxton man accused in armed robbery

The Scotland County Sheriff's Department arrested a Maxton man accused of armed robbery on Saturday.

Jacob Ray Bryant, 19, was arrested and charged with burglary, robbery with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.

He is in Scotland County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Man charged with car theft

TwCharles Edward Bullard, 30, was charged Tuesday with larceny of a motor vehicle, according to a police report.

Bullard, who lives on McColl Road, is accused of taking a vehicle owned by Arletha Alford.

The report said Bullard was seen in the parking lot of the Kangaroo just before Alford's car was stolen, and her son believes he saw Bullard driving the vehicle in Robeson County.

A police officer identified Bullard in the Wal-Mart parking lot and took him into custody.

He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Bullard was placed on the Scotland Crime Stoppers website the day before he was apprehended. The website is www.scotlandcountycrimestoppers.org.

Two arrested for credit card fraud

Two were arrested for credit card at Hampton Inn, according to Laurinburg police.

Shacren Jonathan McNair, 19, and a 17-year old female from Maxton were arrested Wednesday on charges of credit card theft and fraud.

Joseph Jernigan, the owner of the card, called the Laurinburg Police Department because he had noticed unauthorized charges on his debit card.

Jernigan who lives in Dunn, told police that the people using his card had checked into the Hampton Inn in Laurinburg and that he believed they still might be there, the report said.

They were placed in Scotland County jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

The Laurinburg Exchange does not print the name of juveniles involved in crimes.

Laurinburg man arrested for assault on a female

A Laurinburg man was arrested for assault on Monday by the sheriff's department.

Calvin "Pop" Lamont Adams, 26, was arrested and charged with assault on a female, according to a sheriff's report.

Adams, of McLaurin Avenue, allegedly assaulted Jasmine Minor, who reported the incident on Dec. 17.

Woman arrested for aggravated assault

A Laurinburg woman was arrested on Tuesday for assault.

Tanya Lynn McGirt, 32 was charged with aggravated assault by the Scotland County Sheriff's Department.
