Russell was presented yellow roses, a copy of the Pilot Club Code of Ethics, a membership packet and a Pilot Pin. Sylvia Stewart, membership chair, was in charge of the service.
Club President Rebecca Brooks welcomed Russell to the group.
"We are very happy to have Ms. Russell, who goes by the name 'Danny', as a new member of the Pilot Club," Brooks said. "She is a retired schoolteacher, very enthusiastic, and seems to be a hard worker. We are extremely pleased to have her in the club."
Russell, who moved to Laurinburg from New York State, expressed her happiness at becoming a part of the long standing organization.
"I'm very honored to be a part of the Pilot Club," she said. "The ladies in the group are fabulous and do a lot of great things. I enjoy doing community work, and am presently getting pledges for our Alzheimer's Walk in October."
Russell said she looks forward to milder winters in her new home.
"I'm used to hard, hard winter weather," she said. "I know I'm going to love it down here."
Membership in the Pilot Club is by invitation. For more information, contact Stewart at 276-8848.
