HOPE MILLS-When the Scotland and South View soccer teams met in Laurinburg two weeks ago, Scots coach Colin McDavid felt that his bunch was the better team despite losing that game.

Tuesday night, Scotland was able to do something they couldn’t do during that last match: capitalize on its opportunities.

Fueled by a pair of goals from Balyn Krout, the Scots shook off a tough loss to Cape Fear less than 24 hours earlier with a 4-2 victory over the Tigers.

"It was a good rebound from the night before. We made some adjustments with our line-up and it paid off for us," said McDavid. "Pretty much anywhere that Joseph (Prevatte) played, he was great as was Josh (Collins), who was solid at the defensive midfield position."

Prevatte assisted on the second goal by Krout. Cody McKeithan (Alex Fricke assist) and Jauan Petty (Krout assist) also found the back in the net for Scotland (3-3),who will turn around and host Southern Lee at 7 p.m. tonight.

McDavid also complimented on the play in the goal by Davis Jones, Hezekiah Baxter and new keeper, Will Gover.

"Overall, great teamwork. Will Gover joined our team and had a great game in goal," McDavid said. "Davis (Jones) did a good job in the first half and Hezekiah (Baxter) was solid as well. Will (Gover) stepped in during the second half and did not allow a goal."

McDavid was also pleased that the boys were able to capitalize on good opportunities and played its own game, instead of trying to play South View’s tempo.

"Even though they won last time, we had many good opportunities to score against and they (South View) have a very dangerous player," said McDavid referring to the Tigers Vanderson Anderson. "Everyone thought we should’ve marked him man-to-man. Instead, we just concentrated on him a little bit but we just played our game, made our adjustments and I'm very pleased that the boys concentrated on that."

In jayvee’ action, Scotland suffered it’s first loss of 2010, 5-2 to the Tigers.

Goals were scored by Carter Dold and Afiz Lateef. Dold also had the assist.on Lateef’s goal.
