The cast of “Mugsy Sent Me”, the latest production by Encore! Theatre, is finalizing preparations for their Aug. 26 through 28 performances at Scotia Village this week. Shows will be at 7 p.m. nightly with a special matinee planned for Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. Meals will be catered by Jerry’s.

Cast member Allen Johnson said that audience members " ... will be transported back in time to the roaring twenties to a speakeasy called Big Al’s Place (where) gangsters and molls will be ... keeping a watchful eye for the Feds. The audience will enjoy good food and great entertainment and hopefully no one will get arrested."

Brooke Jenkins, Encore! Board Chair, said that she was impressed by the rehearsal performances.

"I caught a sneak peek at one of the rehearsals for 'Mugsy Sent Me' and found the cast to be laugh-out-loud hysterical," she said. "Audiences are in for a treat when they come dine and delight in this comedic salute to the prohibition era.”

Directed by Vanessa Edmundson, a teacher in the Visual and Performing Arts School at Scotland High School, the cast includes Kevin Berotte, L.B. Bowen, Rick Clancy, Jacob Davison, John Davison, Emma Dendy, Joe Harris, Rick Hodges, Allen Johnson, Emily Kelly, Marti Newbold, and Adam Walls. Nostalgic musical selections to be performed include The Entertainer, Five Foot Two Eyes of Blue, Making Whoopee, In the Mood, Blue Kentucky Girl, Sleepy-Eyed John, Winchester Cathedral, Carolina in the Morning, Henry the VIII, and Maybe This Time.

Admission for the performances is $20 for evening shows and $15 for the Saturday matinee. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Call 384-4516 for information.
