A Maxton woman wanted for arson was caught on Friday, authorities say.

Belinda Sue Bullard, 37, of Mt. Zion Church Road, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to Maj. Howard Branch of the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. She faces charges of first-degree arson, cruelty to animals, communicating threats and trespassing.

Bullard is accused of threatening to burn down the home of 42-year-old Tafford Bullard's with him inside, Branch said. On July 24, Tafford heard his dogs barking and discovered a barn that was attached to his Sumpter Circle home was on fire.

Damage to the home was more than $30,000 and a dozen pigeons were killed in the fire, according to Branch.

Belinda Bullard was placed in Robeson County jail under a $105,500 secured bond, Branch said. She was still in jail on Monday afternoon.

Belinda Bullard is currently on probation for shoplifting and has prior convictions for breaking and entering and larceny, according to the state Department of Correction.
