I don't feel enough information has been given about the shooting that occurred on Saturday night.

The fact that the father justified his son's actions is appalling. Lets look at the facts. JaMarcus nor Bilal are good kids and neither own or operate a handgun. There was not a handgun in the car or in their possession. The camera at the Kangaroo will vindicate them. They are both former Scotland High School athletes and are now are juniors in college — JaMarcus at UNCP and Bilal at Feather Rivers College. Both play football and neither have a criminal record of any kind. JD just made Dean's list.

Robinson, according to his father, did graduate from high school but only after becoming a fugitive. I appreciate him telling the truth that he knew his son was running from charges he faced for shooting Keyoka Douglas in 2008 at a house party.

JD and Bilal were celebrating their last week of summer before Bilal flew to California for training camp and the beginning of the 2010 fall semester on Sunday. JD was to move back on campus and also begin practice for the upcoming semester and season at UNCP on Tuesday. Now both are on bed rest awaiting information about their futures.

When your children do the right thing, are in the right place at the right time, what do you say? Where can they go out of harm's way and the people who are willing to throw their lives away?

There are no jobs in Scotland County, but every teenager and young adult has a gun. People see crime being committed and are not willing to talk to the police who are here to solve these crimes. It's all fun, games and gossip. People it's time to talk. Tell them what you know and what you saw. Will you care about "snitchin'" when it happens to you?
