A Laurinburg man charged with 13 counts of sexual offenses against a child is in the county lockup under a six-figure bond.

Aaron Goode, 44, of 704 Beta St., was arrested Tuesday after a juvenile told officers he had repeatedly sexually assaulted her over a two-year period, according to a Laurinburg police report.

Goode is accused of having sexual relations with the child from October 2008 until July.

Goode was charged with two counts each of statutory rape and attempted statutory rape and nine counts of indecent liberties with a minor, according to the report. He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $600,000.

Chris Young, the lead detective on the case, said the agency would not release the victim's name or age, or what her relationship was with Goode. It is The Laurinburg Exchange's policy not to print the names of sexual assault victims.

The legal age of consent in North Carolina is 16.

Statutory rape is a Class B1 felony and is punishable by up to life in prison, according to the North Carolina General Statutes. Indecent liberties with a minor is a Class F felony and each count is punishable by up to three years in prison.
