George Norman White, Sr., age 90 of Laurinburg passed away on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Joel Quick. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Mr. White was born in Robeson County on Dec. 25, 1919. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Brower White. He was a WWII veteran, proudly serving in the United States Army. Before retiring, his work was in roofing and construction. He also served as a member of Wendy Hill Holiness Church and enjoyed fishing with his wife.

He is survived by his children, sons Charles White and wife Wendy of Laurinburg, Ralph White of Rowland, Norman White, Jr., of Charlotte, Terry Holbrook of Harker’s Island, Leon Holbrook of Florence, S.C., and James Kelly Holbrook of Latta, S.C.; a daughter, Charisse Owen of Maxton; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
