A house gutted in an early-morning blaze. Officials have not determined a cause of the fire.
Laurinburg police and firefighters pulled an all-nighter to battle separate fires that destroyed two homes early Friday morning.

No one was injured in either blaze.

A trailer fire at 305 Emory Street was reported at 1:30 a.m. that took just over an hour to put out, according to a fire report. The home was destroyed with an estimated $10,000 in damages. The home had been vacant for seven years and had no electricity running to it.

A fire at 809 Jackson Street was reported less than two hours after firemen had cleared the first fire, according to a fire report. The fire was brought under control just before sunrise. The home was gutted.

The fires were about two blocks apart.

The blaze on Jackson Street is believed to have started in a bedroom.

Firefighters and police could not determine the cause of either fire.

There is little doubt that the Emory Street fire was arson, interim FIre Chief John Evans said, as the house had no power and had been vacant for so long that it would be difficult for the fire to have been started by accident.

The circumstances around the other house fire has also being investigated although it has not been ruled an arson yet.

The woman who lived at the home had gotten into a dispute with a neighbor and was arrested at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, police said. Less than six hours later, while the woman was in jail, the home caught on fire.
