James Oxendine of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010 at the age of 75.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Good News Chapel Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery.

James was born May 26, 1935 in Scotland County, son of the late Early and Gladys Jacobs Oxendine. He was a devoted and loving husband and father that truly loved spending time with his family. He was the manager of Midway Cotton Gin retiring after many years of dedicated service. James served as a faithful member of the Good News Chapel. He was also a farmer and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by a brother, Early Oxendine, Jr. and a sister, Ada Mae Locklear.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mrs. Kathleen Clark Oxendine; his son, Jamie Oxendine of Perrysburg , OH; his daughter, Ginger Oxendine of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Willie Sanford Oxendine of Red Springs, NC,

Rev. Nathan Oxendine of Laurinburg, NC, Rev. Roscoe Oxendine of Latta, SC; sisters, Mary Bull of Laurinburg, NC, Jeanette Sheppard of Wagram, NC, Gladys Locklear of Dillon, SC; five step brothers, James Chavis, Milton Chavis, Jr., Pete Chavis, Ronnie Chavis and Earl Chavis; three step sisters, Vivian Miller of Laurinburg, NC, Rosie Oxendine of Roland, NC, Nettie Grant of Winston Salem, NC and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 17th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
