Brooke Jenkins will serve as chairman with Chris Wood as vice-chairman. Jean Barbour was named secretary and Doug Bowen named treasurer.
Other board members include: John Davison, Corrie Haskins, Rick Hodges, Allen Johnson and Sylvia Stewart. Sean Moore was elected recently to the board as a new member.
Rehearsals are underway for the production of Mugsy Sent Me, a play set in the 1920’s.
Billed as a dinner theater, the performances will be held Aug. 26, 27, and 28 at Scotia Village at 7 p.m. There will be a Saturday dessert matinee on August 28 at 3 p.m.
The play is directed by Vanessa Edmondson, a teacher in the Visual and Performing Arts School at Scotland High School. Tickets are $20 per person for the dinner and play and $15 for the dessert matinee. Reservations are required.
Another production which will be presented later this year is Forever Plaid, a musical comedy which is based on a close-harmony guys singing group similar to the Four Aces and the Four Freshmen.
One of ENCORE Theater’s purposes is to provide an avenue for those with acting skills to hone them and present quality productions three or four times a year.
Other opportunities such as, directors, producers, musical talent, make-up artists, technical assistance, and set design are always available in every production.
