Nick Liles has been showing no signs of a sophomore slump this year with the Augusta Greenjackets.
The 2006 SHS graduate is batting a team-best .327 (third in the South Atlantic League) while driving in 40 runs. Along with his 17 doubles and four triples, Liles is tied for the team-high in stolen bases with 17.
Derrick Lowery has had his share of ups and downs this season with the Reds of the Arizona Rookie League, He is 0-2 with a 15.19 ERA in four appearances.
Chris Patterson is off to a solid start with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League.
Patterson has a 3.52 ERA in six appearances. He has earned a save and fanned ten in 7 2/3 innings.
Russ Adams is currently fourth on the Buffalo Bisons ( Triple-A affiliate of the Mets) with four home runs and 30 RBIs to go along with 16 doubles in 71 games so far. The 30 runs driven in are third -best of the Bisons.
In the collegiate ranks, a pair of former Scotland standouts are looking to make their mark in the Coastal Plain League.
Jay Flowers has seen action in three games as a conditional player for the Fayetteville Swampdogs.
Vance Chavis has thrown in two appearances for the Thomasville Hi-Toms, compiling four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work. Despite his 0-1 record and 6.35 ERA, the Western Carolina hurler has opponents batting just .204 against him this summer.
SAPC's Kyle Tate is continuing to impress in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League.
The rising sophomore for the Knights is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances for the Morganton Aggies. He's fanned 17 batters in 16 1/3 innings.
Brad Bridgeman hasn't been as successful as his SCBL counterpart, hitting just a .198 average in 28 games with the Statesville Owls.
Bridgeman has driven in 10 runs and leads the expansion Owls in stolen bases with seven. He's also pitched 1/3 innings with a 0.00 ERA.
