Miriam Prevatte, 87, of Laurinburg, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Edwin Morgan Center.

There will be a private graveside service at a later date.

Born Jan. 3, 1923 in Marlboro County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Alton and JoAnn Smith Weatherly. Mrs. Prevatte was a member of the First Baptist Church in Laurinburg, and worked in furniture sales for over 30 years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Blease Prevatte, and a son, Lyn Prevatte.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Prevatte Griggs and husband Jim of Laurinburg and Jo Linda Creech and husband Tommy of Cheraw, S.C.; four grandchildren, Elinda Turner of Laurinburg, Dawn Leach of Cheraw, Randy Creech of Columbia, S.C., and Dean Creech of Cumming, Ga.; and eight

great-grandchildren.
