Burglar makes off with $4,000 in electronics, furniture

More than $4,000 worth of electronics and furniture was reported stolen, according to a sheriff's report.

A residence on Tabernacle Road in Gibson was broken into on Thursday morning the report said.

The items reported stolen are: a 32-inch television valued at $1,500, a 20-inch television valued at $4000, approximately $600 in jewelry, a coffee table valued at $800, three bar stools valued at $300, a glass dinner table valued at $200, a laptop table valued at $200, a watch valued at $100, a pair of size 10 Jordan sneakers valued at $130, and a Hoover vacuum cleaner valued at $123.

Prescription drugs taken at gunpoint

Two people were held at gunpoint for prescription drugs, according to a sheriff's report.

Stacy Harold Lewis, 41, and Connie Ann Rogers, 44, were robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

The assailant, who was brandishing a shotgun, got off with a bottle of percocets with 240 pills, nine morphine patches and a bottle of valium with 60 pills.

Woman charged with larceny

A woman was accused of larceny on Wednesday night, according a sheriff's report

Felicia Wenona Hunt, 31, was charged with five counts of obtaining money or property by false pretense, one count of burglary, on county of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of breaking and entering inro a motor vehicle and five counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Hunt, who lives on Wagram Road in laurinburg, was released with a written promise to appear at court.

Man arrested as "deadbeat dad"

The sheriff's office served a warrant for non support on Thursday, according to an arrest report.

Douglas Sheppard Pate was arrested for failing to appear in court for not paying child support, according to the report.

Pate owes at least $18,465 in child support, the report said.

Maxton man arrested

The Sheriff's Department arrested a Maxton man on Thursday for breaking and entering, according to an arrest report.

James David Chavis, 45, was arrested on Highway 71 in Maxton not far from his home on Bryant Circle.

Chavis is charged with burglary by forcible entry and larceny after breaking and entering. He is in Scotland County jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
