The Delta Omicron Society, a local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an educational, honorary, professional organization for women educators, recently elected new leaders. These leaders will serve a biennium term from 2010 until 2012.

The new officers are: President Hattie Wilson, First Vice Laura Horne, Second Vice Carol Whitehead, Secretary Peggy Jones and Treasurer Elroy Snead.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International was founded in Austin, Texas on May 11, 1929. The name is a combination of the initial letters of three Greek words: didascotiki meaning teachers, kleidouchi meaning key, and gynaikes meaning women. The word "Society" designates the comprehensive international organization.

Chapters are named by Greek letters in the order of the installation within each state organization.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of this Society may contact Carolina Caddell at 276-8488.
