The event was held at the Cole Auditorium and Community Center on the campus of Richmond Community College.
Clifton Bostick of Laurinburg, received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Bostick is the son of J.B. Bostick and attended the U.S. Air Force Preparatory School last year.
“Clifton is a fine example of dedication, hard work and outstanding character,” said Kissell, who nominated Bostick for his appointment to the Academy. “The students who receive appointments to the U.S. Service Academies are not only the future leaders of our Armed Services, but of our communities and our nation. I am honored to have nominated such an exceptional person. I have the utmost confidence that Clifton will represent the 8th District admirably, and make us all proud.”
