The Lady Knights and first year head coach Rohan Naraine will be tested this fall with 17 games in two months that features 10 Conference Carolinas clashes and seven non-conference tilts.
SAPC will prepare for the season with two home preseason games that includes a scrimmage against Cape Fear Community College and an exhibition versus USC Lancaster.
The Lady Knights will open up the 2010 campaign at home with a pair of non-conference games against institutions from South Carolina. St. Andrews kicks off the season against Columbia College on Thursday, Sept. 2 before hosting North Greenville University on Sept. 7.
All five of SAPC’s wins last year (and its only tie) were obtained on the Knights pitch in front of the home crowd in Laurinburg.
St. Andrews will begin Conference Carolinas play on the road at Queens University of Charlotte. The Knights play an even distribution of five road and five home league games. Other league commutes for SAPC will include Erskine College, Limestone College, Converse College, and Barton College.
The Lady Knights host a quintet of Conference Carolinas foes in high hopes to return to the league’s eight-team tournament that is contested the first week of November. SAPC hosts Coker College, Belmont Abbey College, Mount Olive College, Lees-McRae College, and Pfeiffer University.
The 2010 Conference Carolinas Tournament will once again be three-rounds with the top-eight teams in the regular season standings qualifying for tourney. Teams earn three points for every regular season league win and one point for a tie. All three rounds will be contested at the higher seeds with the quarterfinals on Monday, Nov. 1; the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 4; and the finals on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The Lady Knights non-conference schedule is highlighted by a pair of home games against local rivals in October. St. Andrews hosts UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, Oct. 12 and Wingate University on Monday, Oct. 25. SAPC’s non-conference road schedule includes treks to USC Aiken, Methodist University, and Chowan University.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 23. St. Andrews will host Conference Carolinas rival Lees-McRae College that afternoon as part of the 2010 Knights Fest, and it will also be designated as SAPC’s ‘Senior Day’.
SAPC’s showdowns with Chowan, Coker, Converse, and Limestone will all be rematches of Lady Knights’ victories from last season.
