Christine McGilvray Dukes of Laurinburg passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m. Friday followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

Christine was born in Clio, S.C. on Feb. 5, 1915 to the late Josephine Campbell and Benjamin Franklin McGilvray. She was the oldest of six children and is survived by two sisters, Mabel Bost of Bennettsville and Letitia Conoly of Raeford and a brother, Ben F. McGilvray, Jr. of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews; and her cocker spaniel, Beeji. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E. H. (Gene) Dukes and siblings Anne Josephine McGilvray and James F. McGilvray.

She was a retired sales lady at McNair’s Department Store and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed golf and was an avid cook, always trying new recipes.

The family wishes to thank special friends Beth Dunbar, Maxine White and caregiver Winnie McRae.
