Fifty Walmart employees and customers gathered inside as Walmart store manager Will Goodwin welcomed the crowd to their new makeover.
"Thank you everyone for coming out and for everything done so far," Goodwin said. "This is not just a remodel, but a make over."
Goodwin said that the new look will turn the store from a good store to a great store.
Goodwin thanked the Walmart staff for their hard work during the remodeling process, saying that it was a long and arduous task, but that it was worth it.
Walmart district marketing manager Brady Rowland said that the remodel was an exciting time for the supercenter.
"It's exciting to see this store transform to where we are today," Rowland said. "The new layout is phenomenal."
Rowland echoed Goodwin's sentiments that the remodeling process was a draining task on both employees and customers, saying that it was hard enough to run a Walmart with a normal schedule, much less with construction around the store.
Rowland thanked the Walmart customers as well for their support.
"I really think you're going to like what we've done with the ease of shopping," Rowland said.
Rowland knows the issues when a Walmart undergoes remodeling, having been the store manager of the Aberdeen Walmart when it under went remodeling last year.
Along with the new layout being showed off for all to see, Walmart management also handed out five $1,000 checks to local non-profit county agencies.
The Hospice of Scotland County, I. Ellis Johnson Elementary School, the Scotland High School WIA program, the Laurinburg Institute and the local chapter of the NAACP received the five grants from the superstore.
Chamber of Commerce Chairperson Elect Dee Hammond gave praise to the store for their work in the local community.
"Look at this store," Hammond said. "Isn't it exciting to see the renovations come all together? Thanks for being in this community."
Mayor Pro Tempore Tom Parker said that the city council was glad to see the renovation progress complete and that donation money to the non-profit organizations was an important step for Walmart in the community.
The ceremony closed with Walmart's 20-year associates cutting a plaid ribbon to signify a new era for the Laurinburg store.
