He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
Gibson said that evidence turned up during the investigation of Michael "Mike-Mike" McNeill that implicated Allen in the robbery of the Kangaroo convenience store in Laurinburg.
Gibson said Allen and McNeill are believed to the two gunmen for the Kangaroo robbery.
According to police, two men brandishing guns entered the Kangaroo convenience store at 1:45 a.m. on May 11, forcing an attendant, 19-year old Josiah Simmons, to empty the register at gunpoint. The duo then had Simmons kneel on the floor behind the register as they fled out of the gas station in an unknown direction.
The pair took an undisclosed amount of cash and eight packs of cigarettes.
Police said the men were dressed in dark clothing and had blue bandanas covering their faces.
McNeill, 17, of 511 N. Caledonia Rd., Laurinburg, was also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to Gibson.
He remains in Scotland County jail under a $500,000 secured bond on other charges.

The victim described the vehicle and suspects to the police and an all-points bulletin went out to every officer describing the car. The car was stopped shortly thereafter and Carter, McNeill, McKoy and the juvenile were arrested at the scene.
