Police think they have made arrests in a string of robberies plaguing the city.

The arrests came after the Tuesday night robbery of Precision Hair Designs and Food Lion.

Precision Hair Designs, on McColl Rd., was robbed by four men at about 11:15 p.m., according to a police report. The group was arrested a short while later.

They are:

• Michael McNeill, 17, of 511 N. Caledonia Rd., Laurinburg

• Corey Carter, 17, of 318 E. Carver St., Laurinburg

• Nigel McKoy, 20, of 20281 Blakely Rd., Laurinburg

• A Fayetteville juvenile

The four are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by someone under the age of 21, according to the report. They are being held in Scotland County jail, each under a $500,000 secured bond.

Police say the group entered the store brandishing guns, forcing the lone employee to lie face down on the floor while they stole money from the business. Then they forced the clerk into a bathroom and fled the scene.

The victim described the vehicle to police and an officer stopped the vehicle on Main Street a short while later.

A fifth person was arrested in connection with these robberies on Wednesday morning. Police have yet to release the identity of the fifth suspect.

Police believe these five were also responsible for the robberies at the Kangaroo convenience store, Gill Street Quick Stop and Family Dollar.

In an unrelated case, a person who robbed the Food Lion at Scotland Crossing at 10 p.m. on Tuesday was also apprehended, according to the report.

Laron Daryl Washington, 27, of 712 Walnut Street, Laurinburg, was arrested in the Food Lion parking lot and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, five counts of kidnapping, four counts of assault by pointing a gun, the report said. He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
