The Scotland girl’s soccer team accomplished alot of things during the regular season.

The most recent accomplishment may be the biggest of them all.

Four players, Josie Yang, Greta Griswold, Courtney Penn and Whitney Campbell, were named to the 2010 All-Southeastern Conference team.

Along with that accolade, Yang, who led the team with 25 goals this season, and Griswold were both named to the all-region team.

For Coach Colin McDavid, all four girls were deserving of the nomination.

"I am very pleased for all of the girls, " McDavid said. "For us to have that many girls selected to the all-conference team is a great accomplishment. All four of them deserved to make it."

Greta Griswold was the only non-senior from Scotland to make the team. She was second behind Yang in scoring with 10 goals this season for Scotland (8-10-2).

"Greta should be real proud of herself for making it as a freshman, said McDavid. "She did a tremendous job for us and was our hardest worker all season long, in practice and on the field."

On the defensive side, Courtney Penn led a Scots defense that allowed one goal or less in a game, 10 times this season.

"She was tremendous for us on the defensive side for us all season long. It was very hard to get by her.,” said McDavid.

Whitney Campbell didn’t always get the recognition for doing the grunt work, so McDavid is pleased to see her get recognized for doing the little things that help a team be successful.

"Whitney's just a cool and calming presence at midfield. She did alot of great things silently that don't always get you in the score-book," said McDavid. "She was very effective for us on our long throw-ins, good free kicks, steadying the defense."
