Scotland County Extension and Community Association (ECA) recently held a Fashion Show and luncheon to support their annual scholarship fund. ECA, a state volunteer organization supported by North Carolina Cooperative Extension, provides an annual college scholarship to a deserving graduating senior from Scotland County.

The Fashion Show entitled “Fashions From One Generation To The Next”, presented fashions from Hi-Lites Ladies Clothing in downtown Laurinburg. A special feature of the program included several ECA members who modeled fashions with their daughters. The mother and daughter models included: Midge English and Lynn McDougald; Candis Harrington and Ida McGill; Juanita Bowen and Ann Lucero; Edna Rhonehouse and Bonnie Livosky; Mary Stone and Jenny Stone. Other models included Donna Dickerson and Ida Stewart, Scotland County ECA Advisor. Terri Gallman, Manager, Hi-Lites Ladies Clothing introduced the models and their fashions.

In addition to the lovely fashions presented, attendees enjoyed a delicious luncheon prepared by ECA members. The meal consisted of chicken salad, pasta salad, fresh fruit and a brownie.

The mission of ECA is to strengthen families and communities through leadership development, volunteerism development, educational support and research-based education from North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

ECA, originally known as North Carolina Home Demonstration Club, was organized in 1920. In 1958, the name was changed to the North Carolina Organization of Home Demonstration Clubs. Following the establishment of the State Council of Home Demonstration Clubs of North Carolina, the organizations merged under the name of The North Carolina Extension Homemakers Association. In 1999, the association became known as the North Carolina Extension and Community Association, Inc.

Scotland County has three ECA community clubs: Central Friendship, Town and Country and Wagram. For more information on ECA, please contact Scotland County Cooperative Extension at 277-2422.
