The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Don Rollins and the Rev. Dewayne Dukes. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Park.
Archie was born in Dillon County, S.C. on Jan. 28, 1934, son of the late Raymond Hyatt and Lillie Mae Hyatt Herring. He worked in textiles, retiring from Waverly Mills after many years of dedicated service. Archie was also the owner and operator of Hyatt’s Used Cars and Wrecker Service. He attended the Holiness Church and loved spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Archie was also preceded in death by a son, Richard McKinney; brothers, Edward Hyatt and Jake Hyatt; and sisters, Linda Herring and Ima Graves.
He is survived by his children, Crystal Locklear and husband Carey of the home, Teresa Pridgen and husband Lynn of Laurinburg, Michelle Grooms of Wagram, Christine Carter and husband Tony of Gastonia, and Donald “Buddy Boy” Hyatt of Gastonia; wife, Lillian Hyatt of Laurinburg; his brothers, Lee Hyatt and wife Linda of Raleigh, Oliver Hyatt of Laurinburg, and Rob Hyatt and wife Gladys of Washington; sisters, Carolyn Powell and husband Paul of Laurinburg, Roxie Caulder and husband Rudolph of Dillon, S.C., and Eva Lovelace of Sumter, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, Donald Wayne Jr., Jason Tyson, Derrick Hyatt, Mark Carter, Lorna Locklear, Chris Sheppard, Kinney Emanuel, Caroline Pridgen, Charles Pridgen and Rebecca McKinney; two
great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Hyatt and Megan Hyatt; a special friend, Joey House; and his K9 friend Snowball.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mr. Hyatt to the charity of one’s choice.
