Assault reported

A Laurel Hill man reported being attacked by a baseball bat.

Michael Clark, 48, of McRae Street told deputies on Friday that someone chased him with a baseball bat, striking him several times, according to a sheriff's report. He was treated at Scotland Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

Deputies are investigating.

Man jailed for conspiracy

A city man was charged with conspiracy in connection with a theft from two weeks ago.

Anatwon O'Brian Lloyd, 27, was arrested at his Tartan Road home on Wednesday morning and charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy, according to a sheriff's report. He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $20,000 secured bond.

Lloyd is the second person charged for an April 28 break-in, the report said.

Cash, jewelry reported stolen

A Laurinburg man reported more than $7,000 in cash, jewelry and guns stolen in a recent break-in.

Jerry Monroe, 47, told deputies on Friday that someone forced their way into his Harold Morris Road home through the back door and stole $4,500 in cash, $2,000 in jewelry and five guns – a pistol, a shotgun and three rifles – worth $950, according to a sheriff's report.

Fugitive arrested

Deputies arrested a man on the lam from officers in another state.

Brian W. Callahan, 38, of Wagram Drive, Wagram, was arrested at Pine Lake Campground on Monday and served a fugitive warrant, according to a sheriff's report. He was being held under a $30,000 secured bond.

The report does not say what Callahan is charged with or where the warrant is from. The charge is for a felony.

Guns taken in break-in

A pair of guns were reported stolen in a Laurel Hill break-in.

Bruce A. Lynch, 44, told deputies on Tuesday that someone knocked out the glass in the back door to his Corbitt Road home and stole a .50 caliber black powder gun and a .270 caliber Vanguard, according to a sheriff's report.

Fake report leads to arrest

A woman was arrested after she lied to officers in a report, according to a sheriff's report.

Donella Rochelle Pearson, 22, of Tabernacle Road, was arrested on Sunday and charged with filing a false police report, according to a sheriff's report. She was released from custody on a written promise to appear for court.
